Riverside Rail Jam

Riverside Rail Jam

The guys at The Youth Shelter Supply know how to live.  Killer event with the Bald E-Gal Cup last weekend, and now the Riverside Rail Jam.  I don’t know about you, but i couldn’t think of a  better way to celebrate World-Snowboarding-Day on Sunday, December 21st.  Special guest appearance by Bjorn Leines and sponsored by Volcom, Celtek Gloves and The Youth Shelter Supply - yah, you don’t want to miss this one!

Spirit Mt J-I-B Comp!

Spirit Mt J-I-B Comp!

Rounding out our third game of J-I-B for the season, the Midwest Represent crew was up at Spirit MT on Sunday December, 7th.  We couldn’t have chosen a better day for the Spirit event.  A chilly 15* air temp, light winds and a steady snow fall set the stage for a great day of shredding - Duluth style!

With a solid crew of about 35 riders amassed, J-I-B got underway at high-noon on the flat box provided by Spirit.  RP and Shane took it easy on the riders at first but realized quickly that the kids needed to see some hammers dropped if they were going to get anyone out.  After a heated final, these three men were left standing.

1. Sam Bakkem

2. Luis (last name?)

3. Aaron Becker

All three boys were awarded new Anon goggles, Red Helmets, Analog Hat’s or Tees and a slew of stickers. For holding it down in first place, Sam even won a new Ronin Love Jacket that he chose to wear inside out for some strange reason???

Thanks to Taylor from FOD for helping facilitate and take pictures…oh, and happy belated birthday to your daughter Phoebe!

Powder Ridge J-I-B Comp!

Powder Ridge J-I-B Comp!

Shortly after the Bald E-Gal Cup, Midwest Representer’s Ryan Paul and Shane Ruprecht ran a J-I-B comp with about 25 kids who still had some energy left over from the day of shredding.  Everyone had a good time and learned some new tricks, PJ and I even managed to hop in on the game…till PJ decided to make out with the handrail.  Scope the photos below for evidence.  Thanks to all of you who came out.  It was another memorable J-I-B game!

1. Matt Faust

2. Andy Glader

3. Tyler Wibstad

Final 6 Competitors with RP and Shane Ruprecht.

What is this J-I-B game you speak of?  RP and Shane explain the format…

Stoked competitor NOT getting a letter!

I would have gotten more photos of the comp, but i had to get PJ into the Ski Patrol office to check out his face after head-butting a handrail under his nose…Check it out!

Let’s see that Grill!

Blood Graphics sold separately on the X-8 155….

PJ all cleaned up…though he may not have broken any teeth or his nose, he is a shoe-in for any future auditions for Horton Hears a Who!

Git BUCK wild…

Git BUCK wild…

MWR alumni BobE and PJ spent the evening at Buck Hill in Burnsville, MN to get their shred on in the man-made snow crystals.  Creeping it real on record length magic carpets is what it’s all about!

Yeah, doggie!

Oops, RP did it again…

Oops, RP did it again…

Keeping in line with their other events, Summit went all out with their 2nd Maui Wowie Backyard Rail Jam. The setup consisted of a flat down box from Red Bull, a sick 30 ft down rail and a 20 ft down rail with a donkey dicker kicker on the end!  With 60 of the area’s heavy hitters on deck, some hammers were dropped and fun was had by all.  Riders were judged on style, trick variety, and consistency (making it all the way through the rail).  It was a nail biter as all of the competitors were throwing down.  In the end it was Viktor Simco, Josh Tramby and MWR’s own Ryan Paul duking it out for bragging rights and $1000 in cold hard cash!

Here’s how things shook out…

1. Ryan Paul

2. Josh Tramby

3. Viktor Simco

Here are some shots of the top three riders…stay tuned for more in the next day or two!

All of us at MWR are stoked for RP and the rest of you who participated.  Also, thanks to Summit and friends for throwing a great event - already looking forward to next years event!
